Tompkins County, which includes Ithaca, New York, has been awarded an EPA Climate Showcase Communities grant to develop an energy-efficient, pedestrian-focused residential neighborhood. Tompkins County is now seeking a developer to purchase or lease 25.5 acres of county property and to develop a 70-unit residential community. This community will include highly energy-efficient buildings; affordable housing; on-site community gardens; and permanent protection of approximately two-thirds of the site as open space.
