Dubai's "Sustainable City" to be Modeled after California Campus
An energy-efficient community in California is serving as an inspiration for a sustainable city in the United Arab Emirates. The West Village at the University of California, Davis will be the model for a new sustainable city being built on the outskirts of Dubai. West Village is the largest zero-net-energy community in the U.S. Dubai Sustainable City, set to begin construction in 2013, will provide housing for about 2,500 people on 120 acres, and will use 60 percent less energy and water than conventional structures in Dubai.
