HUD Grant Addresses Unique Challenges of Rural Smart Growth

A regional planning grant from HUD is helping Montana answer the question of how smart growth can apply to rural areas and small towns. The Vibrant Futures Montana project is coordinating planning efforts across 11 counties and three tribal reservations, covering over 30,000 square miles. By adapting smart growth strategies to solve regional issues, Montana planners are hoping to create resilient local economies, provide better living and transportation choices to residents and plan for future development opportunities.
