A comprehensive update for the Lake Tahoe Basin contains several smart growth principles normally applied to more urban areas. The plan, if adopted, will be the first comprehensive update for the Tahoe Basin since 1987. The plan envisions clustering growth in small town centers and around existing resort infrastructure, which would help reduce driving, pollution, and storm water runoff in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
