A demonstration “parklet", including plants, benches and a bike rack will replace a few parking spots in downtown Asheville. The initiative is the first major effort from Open Asheville, a new nonprofit, to apply “tactical urbanism” to downtown. The nonprofit focuses on smaller, faster urban project demonstrations as a way to create a model for larger Asheville initiatives in the future.
