The Northwest Michigan Council of Government has received a 2012 Innovation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations Research Foundation for the Northern Michigan Community Placemaking Guidebook. Placemaking is a community-based approach to the planning, design, and management of spaces that have local and regional importance.
