Smart Growth a Driving Factor in New Zoning Code
Mounting traffic congestion, rising obesity rates, and shrinking undeveloped real estate are behind some of the major changes proposed in a new zoning code for Montgomery County. “I hate to use the word ’smart-growth,’ but it’s still perhaps the best way to refer to it,” Interim Planning Director Rose Krasnow said of the philosophy behind the changes in the draft code. The Montgomery County Planning Commission and City Council must still review and approve the new code.
