Upstate New York See Increase in Downtown Popularity
The trend toward walkable urban places is helping the residential market in upstate New York cities, according to presentations at a recent conference in Syracuse. Developers from Syracuse, Rochester, and Waterton reported that the downtown residential market had gained strength in recent years, with a focus on younger singles and couples and empty nesters. Albany, Buffalo, and Ithaca also found very low downtown vacancy rates and strong rental markets.
