Americans Continue to Drive Less
The Federal Highway Administration has released data that show the average number of miles driven by Americans has declined significantly in the past decade. An analyst quoted in DCStreetsBlog thinks that the decrease in driving miles is related to growth in telecommuting, the retiring of the baby boom generation, and a decline in driving among young people who increasingly take trips by bike or mass transit.
