LA River Restoration Underway
The Los Angeles River, which begins in the San Fernando Valley and moves east and then south through Los Angeles County, is undergoing a dramatic rebirth. Much of the river has been enclosed in concrete over the past decades. Converting the river back to a natural state will create new animal habitats, improve water and air quality and decrease urban heat island effect. There are over 240 new trail and park projects proposed along a 32-mile stretch of the river.
