Southern Nevada Strong formally kicked off its regional planning project in early February in downtown Las Vegas. More than 150 Southern Nevada elected officials and business and community leaders gathered to learn more about the project and get involved. HUD’s Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities Director Shelley Poticha participated in the event, which reached almost 30,000 Twitter users and thousands more on Facebook. Community leaders at the event highlighted the need for light rail and transit oriented development.
