Sugar Refinery Transforms into Vibrant Community Space
Plans are being reviewed to develop the old Domino Sugar Refinery on New York City’s Williamsburg waterfront into one of the city’s largest affordable housing complexes. Although much of the construction won’t happen until 2014, an interim development will transform the 55,000-square-foot lot this summer into a vibrant community space featuring an urban farm, a bilingual reading room, green space, family-friendly bike courses, and affordable food and goods from local vendors.
