This new report by Walk San Diego examined cities in the San Diego area for intersection safety, proximity of stores to transit, and other walkability factors. The survey included the use of a cell phone application, BestWalk, which more than 1,500 volunteers used to judge 30,000 intersections and street segments. Highlights of the report included recognizing the best sidewalk network (Imperial Beach); best pedestrian-friendly infrastructure (Carlsbad); and best tree canopy to shade pedestrians (Del Mar).
