Improving Walkability Without Changing Streets
The Minnesota Streets website (mn.streets.com) described actions that any city can take, at little expense, to dramatically improve walkability without changing actual roadways. These simple changes include adding red light cameras at busy pedestrian intersections to track automobile infractions of laws; banning right turns on red lights at busy intersections; and banning cellphones while driving to reduce driver distraction.
