The Clean Washington Center works towards developing markets for recycled materials through recycling technology and market development expertise and services. CWC works in partnership with business, industry, and local government to increase the manufacturing capacity for materials recovered from the waste stream, thereby conserving our natural resources, lowering solid waste costs and strengthening the local economy. The CWC provides Washington manufacturers with a comprehensive program of technical assistance in four areas: Business Development, Recycling Technology, Product Marketing, and Policy Research & Analysis. CWC is also the managing partner of the Recycling Technology Assistance Partnership (ReTAP), a national network to develop and share recycling technology tools, strategies and information among service providers throughout the country.

The CWC is a not-for-profit organization within the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER). PNWER is a regional economic development and public policymaking entity based in Seattle. For further information, please call CWC at (206) 464-7040.

The Triangle J Council of Governments in North Carolina has fostered innovative waste management techniques and produced a guide (Waste Spec) to writing waste management plans into project specifications (see publication list below) as well as 10 case stuides of projects employing Waste Spec. National Wood Recycling Directory
This comprehensive reference book provides an overview of wood recycling, lists products made from recycled wood, gives categorical examples of products that can be recycled, provides contact information for regional recycling coordinators, and most importantly, provides a nationwide listing of wood residue receiving centers. The National Wood Recycling Directory was designed to help individuals, groups, communities, builders, remodelers, and demolition contractors avoid costly landfill fees and better utilize the resource by identifying receiving sites for recovered wood. Individual copies of the directory are free, with a charge of $5.00 to cover shipping and handling. WasteSpec: Model Specifications for Construction Waste Reduction, Reuse, and Recycling
The guide presents model specs organized by the SIC code which can be incorporated into an architect’s or engineer’s specification of a project. Available in printed and disk form from Triangle J Council of Governments at (919) 549-0551.
