A Report From the Clinton-Gore Administration:
Building Livable Communities
Sustaining Prosperity, Improving Quality of Life, Building a Sense of Community (Revised June 2000)
This report consists of a policy narrative that describes
growth-related challenges in urban, suburban, and rural communities,
innovative solutions to these challenges, and the role of the federal
government in supporting local initiatives. In addition, the report
outlines the Livable Communities Initiative, a comprehensive 30-point
package of policies designed to support local efforts to revitalize
existing communities; expand transportation choices; improve schools and
increase public safety; protect farmland and open space; and generally
encourage economic prosperity consistent with a high quality of life.
